In recent years, China's economy has maintained steady and rapid development. Its basic construction scale is on the increase, the standards of science and technology are in continuous improvement, which are all promoting the advancement of decorative building materials in Guangdong province.

Decorative industry is increasing with annual growth rate of 20%, which accounts for about 3% of Chinese GDP. The production of China's cement, plate glass and building sanitary ceramics has been successively ranked first in the world for many years. China has become the world’s largest building material producer. Together with the construction industry, decorative industry has become an important industry in the national economy.

Currently, relying on the renewal of equipment and technological innovation, China's building materials have long been out of the past situation of poor quality and low price. While the products are keeping price advantage, the quality has come to or surpassed international advanced level. Most of the products are exported to different parts of the world, and many Europe and American famous brands have processing factory in China.

2. Status of Guangdong’s Decorative Building Materials Industry in China:

Guangdong Province is at higher levels of social and economic development in China, its decoration industry is in the leading position on a national scale.

Currently, Guangdong has 151 first-class decorative enterprises of provincial level, which accounts for 25% of similar enterprises in China. In the selection of China’s top 100 decorative enterprises of 2009, Guangdong is successively maintaining 50% of ranking list.

There are 110 thousands enterprises that produce all kinds of dissipative decoration materials in Guangdong with GDP accounting for 70% in the whole country. Most products come up to international standard, some surpass advanced world level, 30% of which are sold to Europe and America, etc.

In addition to leading domestic and outside trend of designing ideas, Guangdong is also the distribution center of various types of products. For example, the following enterprises as building ceramics and sanitary wares in Foshan, ironmongeries in Nanhai, lighting in Zhongshan, aluminum profile at Dali in Foshan, stone material in Yunfu, furniture and steel in Lecong, porcelain for daily use in Chaozhou etc, are all well-known production and distribution center.

3. Brief Introduction to GDIA:

Guangdong Decoration Industry Association (shortened as GDIA), is a non-government organization of decorative industry with the qualification of legal person, which was organized after being approved by Chinese government in July, 2004. It is subject to and consigned by the guidance and oversight of the relevant government department in the aspect of business.
